bugzilla 2.18-7 uploaded

Bugzilla 2.18-7 has been uploaded to unstable yesterday. It includes an interesting patch for handling virtual hosts configuration through mod_env. Just adding a SetEnv directive in the Virtual Host configuration is enough.
The README.Debian describes the idea.

I’m looking forward for comments, in order to see if that fits the needs of people using it. Thanks to Yann Dirson who first submited the idea.

electricsheep 2.6.2-1 uploaded

The first electricsheep package of my own was uploaded to unstable a couple of hours ago.

Electrichseep is a really special screensaver :

Electric Sheep is a free, open source screen saver run by thousands of people all over the world. It can be installed on any ordinary PC or Mac. When these computers “sleep”, the screen saver comes on and the computers communicate with each other by the internet to share the work of creating beautiful, continuously morphing animations known as “sheep”. The result is a collective “android dream”, an homage to Philip K. Dick.s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

You can see the last generations of sheeps here.

The 2.6.2 version will work better than the previous we had in Debian, which is deprecated now (2.5).

Adopting electricsheep

As electricsheep 2.6.2 is now released, I packaged it for Debian (well, I was asked to do it).
I then sent a mail to Sander Smeenk, the actual maintainer for asking him if he’d like to have the source package I made for saving time.

He then answered me he didn’t have enough time for this package and offered me to adopt it, and guess what, I accepted.
I’ll be the new maintainer of electricsheep as soon as 2.6.2-1 gets uploaded to unstable by Neil McGovern, my sponsor.

That’s a pleasure for me to package such a creative piece of software; stay tuned androids, you’ll soon dream of electric sheeps!

Backup Manager 0.5.8 released

I took the time to close as many bugs as possible on my backup tool. There were enough fixes for making a new minor release, so here it is!

I’m quite happy of what has been done in this release. Most important change is a security fix for making the archives readable only for a given user:group and the ability to log everything to syslog (the syslog facility is customizable through the conffile).

The Debian package is also ready for an upload.

By the way, if a spanish speaker around has the time to enhance our es.po debconf file, that would be great…
